The object “Freundeskreis” (Circle of Friends) is based on the group of works “Ahnenreihe” (Ancestor Series) created between 1987 and 1989, in which the artist also transformed used canisters into works of art.

Biography

The painter and object artist Gerd Rohling, born in Krefeld in 1946, studied from 1971 at the University of the Arts in Berlin in the graphics class of Gerhard Bergmann and completed his studies in 1977 as a master student with Karl Horst Hödicke. He has been working as an object artist since the 1980s. From simple waste materials such as paper, plastic, glass and wood, he develops both smaller ensembles and room-filling installations. Gerd Rohling lives and works in Berlin.
