For the color design of the butterfly wings, Jiří Kolář used the offset reproduction of a painting by Paul Klee.

Condition: Acrylic glass front with scratch at the right edge. Cloth tape of the shadow-box at the upper edge detached from acrylic glass. Overall good condition, consistent with age.


Since his participation in documenta 4 in Kassel in 1968, the poet and visual artist Jiří Kolář is one of the best-known Czech artists. Based on his preoccupation with concrete poetry, he developed various forms of collage for his pictorial works, which he called Rollage, Chiasmage or Crumblage, for example.
