Biography

Rosa Loy was born in Zwickau in 1958. As with her husband Neo Rauch, her artistic path is inseparably interwoven with that of the Leipzig “Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst”. There she studied painting with Professor Felix Müller and graduated as a master student of Professor Rolf Münzer in 1993. Rosa Loy’s paintings and drawings are committed to a figurative pictorial language and the so-called “Saxon Romanticism”. Rosa Loy’s works are represented in renowned international museums and collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the MOCA in Los Angeles or the Albertinum in Dresden.
