Inscribed with ballpoint pen “Tilla Durieux als Olah, chinesische Mutter / in „Die chinesische Mauer“ von Max Frisch / Regie 0 O.F. Schuh / Dtsch. Schauspielhaus Hbg .” and with the photographer’s address stamp on verso.

Condition: short creases to the right corners, the upper one with tiny chip the the surface. The corners overall minor scuffed, the glossy surface with occasional pressure marks, fine scratches and small, matte stains. Good overall impression consistent with age.


Rosemarie Clausen was born in 1907 in Großziethen near Berlin. She trained as a photographer and worked with the theater photographer Elli Marcus from 1929 to 1933. Then she opened her own studio and also specialized in theater photography. In 1945 Clausen fled to Hamburg where she photographed at the Hamburg Kammerspiele, the Thalia Theater and the Deutsches Schauspielhaus and others.
