Sven Hoffmann developed his shaped photographs by dealing with the subject of water. Based on motifs discovered by the imagination in the structures and reflections of a water surface – similar to cloud formations – he cuts his photos printed on aluminum composite plates into forms such as the “green dragon” offered here from a photograph of the surface of the Mekong in Cambodia.
Sven Hoffmann, born in 1965, studied painting and photography at the renowned University of Arts in Berlin in the 90s. He received numerous prizes and scholarships and became internationally known with his water art project “Aqua Globalis”.
His solo shows and participation in trade fairs have taken him to Brazil, China, Germany, France, Georgia, the USA, Poland and Switzerland.
Numerous books have been published on his work to date, including the “Aqua Globalis” and the “Strict Ladies” series.
